I find that most people never have REAL reasons for being die-hard fans of whichever team, usually the answer is “ Because my dad liked them” or “Because I always liked Aikman”. Unless you were “ born and raised there and come from a long line of ancestors who played for the team” You have no better rationale than I do for picking a sports team.
While Men don’t seem to generally know what A-line means, most women don’t know what an O-line is. I would like to guide my female species to the world of opportunity that exists in the sporting world, even if you don’t watch.
Although I do love watching sports, I can never decide on what team I like the best. I have found that in the past, I have chosen my favourite teams based on who has the best looking guys… because quite frankly what sane woman would object to watching football all Sunday when Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are involved? It’s like the male equivalent of hot girls in yoga pants.
Throughout this internal battle of which sports team I love the most, I’ve come to realize what all of the hard work, sweat, and tears that go into sports is all about…. That’s right, the cute outfits. ( Victoria’s Secret wasn’t cashing in on an MLB line for nothing people)
Baseball game you say? I’m going to need a ballcap, a hot dog, and perhaps a foam finger (foam finger used appropriately might I add). Football? Where do they sell those jerseys? How can I get those cute black marks on my face, and how easily does it wash off? ( please note that this is exactly how my owning a Larry Fitzgerald jersey came to be)
I have always had an inner battle with my local teams. I thought that my hatred with Calgary Flames came about from all the savages I saw wearing jerseys around town, drinking beer and burping at notoriously gross places… Not to mention the fact that the Flames haven’t acquired anyone overly attractive in the entire history of the franchise. (But seriously, let me know if there is one that I don’t know about) But alas, I realized. It wasn’t that I hated the Flames, or the Calgary Stampeders for that matter. It’s that I hate the colour red on me, banning me from all Calgary related professional sports teams. ( and re affirming my love for the Jays, Yankees, and Cowboys.. Blue has always looked better on me.)
And so dear lady friends, lady boys, and gentlemen who I have lured into this blog post with the promise of something sports related, I want you to think long and hard the next time you jump onto another bandwagon… Do I look cute in the merchandise?
Happy Sunday Everyone!
